Jefferson Scholar helps commemorate the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in the landmark Brown v. Board of Education case

Pria Dua, the Joseph R. Daniel Jefferson Scholar, has played a pivotal role in commemorating Virginia’s complex journey toward school integration. Pria co-led the initiative to install a new state historical marker titled “Resilience Amid Resistance” in Harrisonburg. Unveiled on the anniversary of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision, the marker stands on the grounds of the Western District U.S. Courthouse, where Virginia judge twice upheld the the Supreme Court’s mandate to desegregate schools.
