Two Walentas Scholars find a home at UVA School of Architecture

Kaitlyn Johns, the John H. and Cynthia Lee Smet Walentas Scholar, and Julia Miller, the William L. and Carolyn K. Polk Walentas Scholar, are making history as the first Walentas Scholars to enroll in UVA’s School of Architecture. Selected for their academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to their communities, Johns and Miller bring interests spanning architecture, environmental research, robotics, and community engagement. In a recent School of Architecture feature, they share their journeys as first-generation college students, what brought them to UVA, and how they hope to use design, research, and service to make an impact.
