Jefferson Scholar alumnus named president of major international medical society

Dr. Jamie Bourque, the University of Virginia Club of Washington - Thomas B. Worsley Jefferson Scholar from the Class of 1999, has been installed as the 2026 president of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC), a leading global professional society in cardiac imaging. 

In his new role, Jamie will guide ASNC’s expansion of international collaboration, the release of updated clinical guidelines, and support for innovative research. His presidency will emphasize broader engagement across the nuclear cardiology community and advance the field through education, partnerships, and emerging technologies.

Jamie is the medical director of nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, and the stress laboratory at UVA Health and professor of medicine and radiology at the University.
