Justin Neill is working as Chief Technology Officer at BrightSpec, Inc., a startup company located in downtown Charlottesville. Based on technology he helped develop in the Chemistry department at U.Va. while he was a Jefferson Fellow, BrightSpec offers new instrumentation for the pharmaceutical, petrochemical, industrial gas, and fundamental research markets. His current focus is on the development of a fast spectrometer for measuring the chiral purity of drugs as they are being synthesized. The company has to date raised $3.5mm in private capital along with an additional $3.5mm in government research funding, and in 2016 won an award as Startup of the Year from the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council.
