Bio:
Jessica’s dissertation, “Improving the Reliability of Eyewitness Identifications,” investigates factors leading to accurate (versus inaccurate) eyewitness identifications. Eyewitness misidentifications are the leading cause of wrongful convictions in the United States, responsible for over 70% of these convictions. The deleterious impacts on the individuals who are convicted as well as their families are clear. The research aims to mitigate these consequences by reducing the likelihood of wrongful convictions due to eyewitness testimony.
