Bio:

Crystal’s dissertation examines the development of Asian American politics in the cities, suburbs, and universities of California during the last quarter of the 20th century. Her broad research interests include the transforming influence of economic globalization on race and space, histories of race and labor, and the history of Asian immigration to the United States. She was a 2020-2021 Praxis Fellow at the UVA Scholars’ Lab and also served as the inaugural graduate fellow for UVA’s Governing America in a Global Era initiative.
