Brian Phillips Murphy is the Director of the Honors College at Rutgers University-Newark and an Associate Professor of History. His research is in early American history and he has been the leader of the Honors College since 2016. He is a 2008 graduate of the University of Virginia (Ph.D., M.A., GSAS) and was a Jefferson Scholars Foundation Graduate Fellow. He was graduated from Haverford College in 1998 with an A.B. in history.
