Two Scholars from the Class of 2027 receive Goldwater Scholarships

Anisha Jarang, the William L. and Carolyn K. Polk Walentas Scholar, and Nicholas Cormas, the John B. Syer Jefferson Scholar, are among the 454 recipients of this year’s Goldwater Scholarships. Awarded to college sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering, the Goldwater Scholarship was established by Congress in 1986 and is designed to maintain the nation’s competitive advantage of scientific talent. 

Nicholas is studying the molecular mechanisms that drive brain inflammation in diseases and Anisha researches polymers and gold nanoparticles.
