Jefferson Scholar alumnus receives prestigious astronomy award

Jesse Han, the James G. Simmonds Memorial Jefferson Scholar from the Class of 2020, has received the 2026 Robert J. Trumpler Award from the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, recognizing his significant contributions to Galactic astronomy. Jesse, who earned his doctorate in astronomy and physics from Harvard, is now a Stanford Science Fellow. He was honored for research that has helped advance scientists’ understanding of the formation and evolution of galaxies, including new insights into the structure of the Milky Way and the influence of dark matter.
