Varun Sharma, JS ’19, wins Schwarzman Scholarship to study in China

Varun Sharma, the New Jersey Jefferson Scholar, is one of 147 students from 38 countries and 119 universities selected to receive a Schwarzman Scholarship.

Schwarzman Scholarships are one of the world’s most prestigious graduate fellowships, providing funding to students to study at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Recipients undergo a rigorous application process designed to evaluate academic ability, as well as leadership potential and strength of character. 

Varun, a fourth-year commerce student, was selected out of a pool of more than 2,800 applicants. Read about his background and future plans in this recent UVA Today article.
