Eloísa works in a field of mathematics called commutative algebra, at the University of California Riverside. She received her B.S. and M.S. in mathematics from the Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, and her Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Virginia in 2018, where she was president and founding member of the UVa chapter of the Association for Women in Math. She is spending the 2019/2020 academic year as a visiting scholar at the University of Utah.
