Nomination period begins. Jefferson Scholars Foundation office sends invitation materials via email to eligible schools and the nomination form is available online.

December 1, 2017
Deadline for all nominees in all regions. Nomination forms and endorsements due to the Jefferson Scholars Foundation office via online submission.Upon receipt, the Jefferson Scholars Foundation processes each nomination and posts a letter of congratulations to the nomination portal for each nominee, recognizing his or her achievement. Subsequently, local selection committees review nominations, carefully reading letters of recommendation and school profiles in order to consider nominees within the context of their schools and communities. From their recommendations, regional semifinalists are chosen.

January 1, 2018
Regular application deadline for U.Va. Office of Admission.

January – February
Regional selection committee reviews all nomination forms, conducts interviews, and selects regional finalists. The Jefferson Scholars Foundation notifies all nominees of their status by late February via the nomination portal.

Late March, 2018
Four-day Jefferson Scholar Selection Weekend is held in Charlottesville, Virginia, for roughly 120 finalists (all associated costs covered by the Foundation).

March 30, 2018
The Jefferson Scholars Foundation office will notify finalists of their status, including extending full scholarship offers to the recipients.

April 16, 2018
Scholarship recipients must notify Jefferson Scholars Foundation of acceptances of scholarship offers. Alternates are notified if necessary.

May 2018
Final list of the new class of Jefferson Scholars will be released.
