A new research initiative at the University brings together faculty and students across disciplines

Recently the Jefferson Scholars Foundation and the College of Arts and Sciences joined forces to create a new interdisciplinary research initiative known as “Governing America in a Global Era”, or GAGE. Spearheaded by the William W. Corcoran Professor of History, William Hitchcock, GAGE aims to convene a coalition of faculty and students working on matters of contemporary history, global politics, and international security affairs. This team is charged with examining the United States from a global perspective, exploring the reciprocal impact between this nation and the wider world.  

Last week, as part of the initiative, the Foundation hosted an event featuring 2008 alumnus of the University Dan Keyserling, who is the chief operating officer at Jigsaw, a unit of Google’s parent company Alphabet. Dan discussed, among other issues, the greatest cyber threats facing the U.S. today.
