“I decided to become a Jefferson Fellow because the idea of being in a community with graduate students across various disciplines appealed to me. The interdisciplinary thinking fostered by the fellowship is unique, and discussing my work with Fellows from other departments has proven to be a welcome counterbalance to the specialization of graduate study. The University of Virginia has a particularly strong history department and this departmental support, in concert with the resources of the Jefferson Fellowship, has greatly enhanced the quality of my scholarship.”
