“Being a Jefferson Fellow allows me the opportunity to interact regularly with brilliant peers outside my Department. While the ability to interact with top scholar in my field is a draw of graduate study at any major University, it can at times breed insularity. Now, the new Jefferson Fellows’ Center gives us a home in which to break free of this insularity and be inspired and motivated by our peers. Already I find this occurring as I stop and chat with other Fellows in the Center. Indeed, just sharing an office with two Fellows from other Departments seems to help me be more productive in my work each time I arrive at the Center. Thus, both the abstract Jefferson community and its physical manifestation in the Center offer unique advantages.”
