B.A., University of Minnesota (2007)

“I chose to become a Jefferson Fellow primarily for the quality of education offered at the University, and for the warm, invigorating community of scholars I found here in Classics and Philosophy.  I was also attracted to the first-class undergraduates I would have the privilege to teach, and to the Jefferson Scholars Foundation’s commitment to supporting and promoting a passion to share one’s knowledge with a broad audience.   Socrates would certainly approve, as would Mr. Jefferson.”

“I find that the support of the Foundation, both financial and intellectual, has exceeded my expectations. The fellowship has given me tremendous freedom to set my own course of studies and teaching, and has provided me with additional resources for valuable books and study abroad.  Beyond that, the support and encouragement of the Foundation staff and the other Fellows reminds me regularly that I came to my graduate work with a special sense of purpose, and that others believe in my potential as much as I do.  Amid the day-to-day pressures of graduate seminars, qualifying exams, and thesis writing, this additional support has tangible value.”

Research Interests: ancient Greek philosophy-Plato, Aristotle, and Hellenistic thought.
